Health Visitors
You can normally see the Health Visitors at their drop-in clinic for further information please contact the Practice.
Health Visitors are all trained nurses who have extra training and qualifications in child health. They are a fantastic source of information about child development and health, parenting strategies, breastfeeding, nutrition and community support. Child health checks
Non-urgent advice: If your child is unwell
Please do not bring ill children to this clinic.
Assessments and physical check ups are made on children when they are 6 to 8 weeks old in accordance with HALL4 but we are happy to review children, where parents have developmental concerns. Parents/guardians should contact the Health Visitors. The clinic is held on Tuesday mornings. You will be sent an appointment when to attend. The clinics are run by the Health Visitors and Dr Winney and Dr Crossland.
You will also be offered routine health reviews for your child, with your health visitor, at 6-8 weeks, 8-12 months and 2-2½ years old.
Child Immunisations
Immunisations are given by Healthcare professionals in accordance with the NHS vaccine schedule.
Further information on the schedule and vaccines in general can be found on NHS Inform.
The practice believes it is very important to ensure that all children are immunised against all potentially serious illnesses.
When to immunise
Different vaccines are given at different ages to protect you and your child. Find out when these vaccinations are offered, and when and where they’ll be given:
Hearing tests for children
Routine hearing tests are offered to newborn babies and children to identify any problems early on in their development.
Although serious hearing problems during childhood are rare, early testing ensures that any problems are picked up and managed as early as possible.
